Former Planet Wings Closes Feb 19, 2017


This building was originally:  Jack in the Box built in 1975


in The Life and Death of the Kingston Post Office, by Stephen Blauweiss with Karen Berelowitz: "Residents despised the Jack-In-The-Box, It remained in business until 1981 and was replaced by a series of failed fast food joints- Pollo Loco, a burger shop, and Heidi's ice cream- until Planet Wings opened in 1996."


April 2019 Kingston's Common Council unanimously adopted a resolution authorizing the city to pay $450,000 for the property at 500 Broadway.


This property was the site of the former Kingston Post Office. Built in 1908, the Post Office was an architectural marvel. Its subsequent was demolition in 1970



A proposal by Mayor Steve Noble would realign a notoriously tricky Broadway intersection by demolishing a former fast-food restaurant to make room for a roadway while expanding green space at the site. The project is expected to cost $1.2 million in city funds and state grant money.  Read more >>
